WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY
Saturday 19 August is World Humanitarian Day (WHD), a day traditionally dedicated to remembering and recognising humanitarian workers who have lost their lives in the service of others, and to advocate for their protection.
This year, the United Nations is organising a campaign around the hashtag #NotATarget, which was launched last year by MSF following the hospital bombing in Kunduz, Afghanistan, and which asked for the protection of health workers, facilities and patients.
In this yearÔÇÖs campaign, the hashtag will expand beyond medical workers to encompass all civilian groups living in conflict zones (source UNOCHA). The digital campaign will live on www.worldhumanitarianday.org.
All campaign content, including key messages, digital assets (videos, social media graphics), logos, visual assets and a media kit will be available here.
BDRCS joined the conversation using the #NotATarget hashtag, focusing on the protection of volunteers and humanitarian workers who are risking their lives at the service of others.
