Department of health is a vital organ of Bangladesh Red Crescent society providing primary health care to the deprived segment of our population and providing first aid in emergency situation is a mandate of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. Since independence the department of health has successfully performed these duties.
Primary health care program:
We have 56 MCH centres operating in 27 districts of Bangladesh. Provision of primary health care services like antenatal care, post-natal care, safe delivery care, neonatal care, general patient care and childhood vaccination in the catchment population is the main objective of this program. Moreover, some MCH centres are also providing family planning services to our people.
Five maternity hospital located in Dhaka, Chittagong, Barisal, Sylhet and Chandpur are providing safe maternity services including caesarean section, safe delivery care and neonatal care.
Two general hospitals are operating under the department of health. One is Sheik sahara khatun Red Crescent general hospital located at Tungipara of Gopalganj and the other is Dinajpur Red Crescent general hospital of Paharpur, Dinajpur.
One Red Crescent eye clinic at Chuadanga and the other at Jaipurhat are providing essential opthalmic care to the people of these two districts.
The outdoor clinic at national head quarter of Dhaka is providing essential health care services to BDRCS staff and general people of Maghbazar area of Dhaka.
