Red Cross Society of China Donates USD. 100,000 to Bangladesh Red Crescent Society

The Red Cross Society of China has donated USD.100,000 to Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to help the flood affected people of the country as assistance to the ongoing humanitarian operation in Haor areas .


Mr. Chen Wei, Charge dÔÇÖ affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka formally handed over the cheque to BMM Mozharul Huq, ndc, Secretary General, BDRCS at a function on 4 July 2017 held at the Embassy.. Mr. Nazmul Azam Khan, Director, Disaster Response and IR & Communication Dept. was also present there. 


ÔÇ£We believe that with joint efforts of Bangladesh Govt. and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, the disaster affected people will be able to overcome the difficulty and get back to normal life soon.ÔÇØ- Mr. Chen Wei, Charge dÔÇÖ affaires at the Chinese Embassy mentioned in a press statement.


The Chinese Embassy said, it is a friendly tradition for the government and people of China and Bangladesh to help each other when disaster falls.  The Chinese side is willing to provide assistance for humanitarian work according to BangladeshÔÇÖs needs and demand.


Vast areas of Bangladesh have been suffering a series of floods since March 2017 and has led to crop destruction and food shortage. The situation of the disaster has also been received extensive coverage in Chinese Media.


The Chinese government expressed sincere condolence and sympathy to all affected family.


According to Disaster Response Department, with the support of Swiss Red Cross (SRC) distribution of BDT.80,00,000.00apx as `Cash for Multiple Food PackageÔÇÖ among the affected people in Sunamgong is going on. The British Red Cross (BRC) also donated BDT. 10,46,700apx responding BDRCS National Appeal for Haor Survivors.

The amount donated by the Red Cross Society of China will be gradually distributed to the most vulnerable families living in Kishoregonj and Netrokona district.
