Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project
Bangladesh has large and complex needs related to access to safe drinking water and appropriate sanitation. The country is very vulnerable to the effects of climate change, which combines with high level of poverty, arsenic contaminated ground water and over population, all hider progress toward SDG targets and Government of Bangladesh (GoB) goals related to drinking water, sanitation, health and development. Wash project was introduced in Khagrachari in 2016 aiming to ensure water sanitation and hygiene at communities where BDRCS provided livelihood/Cash grant support through EcoSec Project.
Around 5000 people in 20 communities have been benefitted through the project.
CD department is initially contributing in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) along with the achievement regarding safe water supply, improved sanitation, life and livelihood development, health education, eradication of superstition and social immorality, multiple grain cultivation, crop production increasing, disaster preparedness and risk reduction and institutional capacity enhancement of very poor and vulnerability prone people.
